JICON is a contemporary porcelain brand founded in 2014 by IMAMURA Hajime, the 13th-generation heir of the historic Touetsugama Kiln, in collaboration with designer OJI Masanori. The name JICON combines “JI” (porcelain) and “CON” (modern times), reflecting the brand’s philosophy of blending tradition with present-day sensibility.

Distinguished by its sustainable approach, JICON revitalizes overlooked porcelain stones with natural pigments—materials often discarded in traditional Arita craftsmanship for not being pure white. Through innovative blending and high-temperature firing techniques, JICON transforms these resources into uniquely textured, off-white ceramics that are stronger and heavier than conventional porcelain. Each piece celebrates the natural traces of iron oxidation, embodying a commitment to ecological values and modern aesthetic elegance.
