Caroline Corbasson - Something Moves

From 7 July to 5 October 2025, Lee Ufan Arles and Maison Guerlain present Something Moves by Caroline Corbasson, winner of the second edition of the Art & Environment Prize. The exhibition is held at Atelier MA and marks the outcome of her residency at the Lee Ufan Arles Foundation.

Born in 1989, the French-Canadian artist Caroline Corbasson explores the vast and the minute, bridging science and imagination through painting, drawing, video, photography, and poetry. Her project Something Moves centers on the observation of the wind—an element that embodies both fragility and power. A long-time admirer of the sky, she deepens her inquiry here into an introspective meditation on movement and perception.

During her two-month residency, Corbasson found herself in daily dialogue with Lee Ufan’s works, an experience she describes as a rare and generous gift of time, space, and inspiration. The resulting works resonate with the presence of nature’s invisible forces, while also paying homage to the contemplative spirit of Lee Ufan.

The accompanying artist’s book, published by Dilecta, gathers drawings, sketches, notebook pages, and poems from her residency. It is enriched by a critical essay by Jean de Loisy, offering insight into the depth and poetics of Corbasson’s practice.

Since its creation in 2023, the Art & Environment Prize has celebrated artists whose work echoes Lee Ufan’s philosophy and opens new dialogues with the natural world. With Something Moves, Caroline Corbasson captures the wind as a metaphor for resilience, transformation, and the unseen energies that shape our lives.
