This piece is created in collaboration with intangible cultural heritage artisans from ethnic minorities in Southwest China. With a fashion-forward language and a Make-To-Order approach, these products bring traditional craftsmanship into everyday wardrobes. It is handcrafted locally by artisans—using techniques such as batik, embroidery, weaving, and brocade—before being sent to Shanghai for garment assembly. 

For Spring/Summer 2025, the brand continues its concept of “integrating the Bouyei people’s traditional narrow-width handwoven fabric into the modern wardrobe,” introducing a suspender-style apron. The design follows the Bouyei’s traditional check patterns—precise and orderly—and the characteristic 45 cm width of handwoven cloth. The integration of the langyuan (rounded-oval) shape evokes the image of placing a square pattern into a state of flow and circulation. This philosophical fusion also serves a functional purpose: when worn at the front, the langyuan-shaped apron helps visually balance and refine the hip line. 

The Bouyei people mainly reside in Qiannan and Qianxi in Guizhou Province, and are one of the many ethnic groups living together in the southwestern region of China. The plaid fabric used in headscarves is a distinctive emblem of the Bouyei people. Bouyei women distill natural forms and symbolic imagery into highly abstracted, simplified, and exaggerated patterns. The unique feature of these patterns is that “from afar, you see colors; up close, you see shapes,” with the warp and weft threads interwoven in varying quantities, directions, forms, and spatial arrangements, repeating endlessly. As the Bouyei people have no written language of their own, the heritage of plaid weaving is passed down through oral tradition and personal teaching.
