TOKYO KODO Incense Classic Series OKOH Agarwood w/ Wooden Incense Holder
This incense set combines the purity of Vietnamese agarwood with the artistry of Japanese craftsmanship. In Vietnam, agarwood is believed to be inhabited by spirits and is traditionally used for purification rituals. Its mysterious, lingering fragrance has been revered for centuries as a sacred gift of nature.
Each incense holder is handcrafted by woodworker Yuki Tsuji, using rare jindai oak (buried oak). This unique material is formed when oak, long buried in soil and water, undergoes natural transformation over decades—its grain darkening into deep, gray tones that vary with time and condition. Each piece is singular, a silent record of nature’s passage.
The holder is finished with a delicate tie of rare domestic hemp string, adding an understated elegance rooted in tradition.
The Classic Series reimagines timeless woods such as sandalwood and agarwood with a contemporary sensibility, honoring their enduring role in human history while inviting us to rediscover our own rhythm and connection to the natural world.
